There are those of us who eat, drink, and sleep movies. The ones for whom the greatest excitement is to catch up with new movies releases with a child-like fervor of what’s next in store for them. While each of the new movies that releases cannot quite live up to our expectations, that does nothing to dampen our interest in the anticipation of expecting the best every single time that we set foot on the terrains of a brand new flick.

How to Dry Your Movie Film

Many people who process their own cine film find the actual drying the trickiest part. How to avoid marking the film…. and get nice, clean professional-looking results ?

Get a plastic-covered board about 2 metres long and screw on eyelets at regular intervals. Make a number of S-hooks out of wire, to support the film by its perforations. It’s a good idea to use a file to taper one end to a point to make it easy and quick to hook on the film.

More durable in comparison to videotape, home movie film was in its heyday from the 1930s to the 1980s. In the 21st century, consequently, most film is reaching the end of its average shelf life of approximately 40 years. The chemical properties of film are decomposing at a fast rate and are especially susceptible to time, equipment, and environmental factors. Unless these film reels are transferred to digital formats, their images will eventually be lost and irretrievable.
